It’s really hard to buy for infants at Christmas. My youngest son just turned 6 months, and I know he won’t even remember or really care about what kids of gifts he gets – but I feel guilty slighting him! It’s his first Christmas, and I want to remember it, even if he won’t.
So when it comes to gifts for infants, I love the idea of things that will last for the coming years instead of just being used for a couple months. I also always follow the quality over quantity rule at Christmas time, so remember that a few really nice gifts that will last will be better than a bunch of toys that end up getting ignored and then given away!

Chairs make great first Christmas gifts, they’re practical and last through toddler-hood. This Bear Chair from Land of Nod so cute! I also love the standard anywhere chair from Pottery Barn Kids, you can personalize it and the covers are washable and changeable. Finally, a wooden rocking chair is perfect for watching TV but also great for milestone pictures since it’s so clean and neutral.
Commerate the first Christmas with a special ornament! I love these sweet little deer and patchwork star ornaments from Etsy. Also, the silver elephant ornament is simple and modern and sure to light up your tree.
Pottery Barn Kids’ personalized stroller blankets make great gifts. The blankets are great quality and last for years! They also have a ton of designs, fonts, and color options – your gift will surely be unique. The Lost My Name books are a personal favorite of mine – we gave one to my son for his first birthday. They tell the tale of the main character who loses their name and the creatures he or she meets along the journey to find it. I also like these puzzle name stools. They’re great for brushing teeth, working at the kitchen counter, and sitting to put shoes on as they get a little older.
I love B. Toys and this cube is no exception. It has four fun sides while baby is still sitting to play, and a bunch of fun loops and tunnels on top when he starts to grow. It still has a place in our house even with my 2.5 year old son! This plush pottery barn rocker is so cute and can even be personalized! Finally, I love that we have a tradition of getting my older son a Hess Truck each year for Christmas. My grandfather has over 30 years of trucks too! I love their quality, they are made very well, and they have great lights and sounds. Read more on collectible Hess Trucks here.
