This past weekend we took a short trip into the city and I was quickly reminded how lucky I am to wake up every day and tackle this thing we call life. Working from home, I’m sometimes in a little bubble. Around town, I don’t really see anyone struggling. Out my window, the streets are clean. But in the city, seeing the culture, witnessing first-hand those who are homeless and hungry, people passionately protesting the recent election, all reminded me that when you change your perspective on things, you can really figure out why it’s easy to be thankful.
When the day starts tough because your kids woke up too early, be thankful they’re there to wake you up.
When you’re dressed for the day and spill coffee on your shirt, be thankful you have clothes to wear.
When it’s freezing cold in the morning starting your car, be thankful you have your own transportation.
When your boss gives you a hard time, or your coworkers annoy you, be thankful for your job.
When the laundry is piling up and dishes are filling the sink, be thankful you have somewhere to call home.
When you’re at dinner with crazy family, be thankful you’re not alone.
When you’re tired of hearing about politics, be thankful for your freedom of speech.
When it’s been a long day, be thankful you’re alive.
It’s easy to be thankful, even for your troubles, when you realize someone else is wishing for them.
In the spirit of the giving season, I’ve teamed up with some other great blogs for an awesome giveaway!
